Welcome to the home of the Sax Stone Carving Workshops in Rinconada, New Mexico, where we have offered a supportive learning environment with world-class instructors since 2001. Whether you have years of experience carving stone, or none at all, we provide an unequalled opportunity to study with the best instructors in the field. We also offer a wide selection of fine stone carving tools from Italy, Germany, France, and Japan, as well as an array of carving stone, including marble, basalt, limestone and serpentine.
Since 2001, we have presented workshops with some of the most accomplished sculptors in the field. Our small classes offer an unparalleled experience for beginners, intermediate carvers, and professionals.
SOUTHWEST STONEWORKS
Southwest Stoneworks is a tool and stone resource for sculptors and specializes in architectural stonework, offering a wide selection of fountains, benches, tables, and memorials.
MARK SAXE
Mark Saxe is the Director and Founder of the workshops, and the owner of Southwest Stoneworks. We named the workshops ‘sax’ from the Latin word for stone.
